La Paz: The Neighbourhood

La Paz is the capital of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, close to picturesque Pichilingue, the main port for ferry traffic to the Mexican Mainland.

The sister city to Redondo Beach, California, has a spectacular 5 km Malecon, or Boardwalk along the water’s edge, providing a public walkway, cycle path, and occasional art exhibits in this incredible setting. A variety of bars and restaurants has emerged, providing excellent choices for fine dining, and casual eateries. La Paz is surrounded on three sides by the calm turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez, making it a safer and more attractive area for swimming and water sports than the rougher, dangerous seas of Los Cabos, at Land’s End.

The city is accessed through Manuel Márquez de León International Airport, and is also less than a two hour drive to the more bustling Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) to the south. An increasing number of individuals with significant net worth have chosen La Paz as their winter hideaway. Celebrity sightings are not uncommon. But, La Paz is still a very well kept secret for much of the world’s population. It’s just waiting for you to come and discover. Many will aspire to owning a residence at Playa de La Paz, but only a few will attain it. Will you be one of them?

Activities

Kayaks, SUP and other water toys are available onsite, and the friendly, bilingual concierge and other personnel help you make the most of your Baja time.

They keep it fun and memorable, whether it's finding and negotiating the best yacht or car rentals, fishing expeditions, horseback riding, beach taco stand, secluded picnic area, making dinner reservations, or anything else you may dream of! Jeffrey Curtiss’ other nearby properties are tangible illustrations of his commitment to nature and sustainability, and of course his love and compassion for animals. His 330 acre Rancho San Antonio Organic palm ranch specializes in growing several varieties of Palm trees from seed to tree, with over 50,000 seedlings currently in the groves.

Rancho San Lorenzo is home to over 30 horses (all with names and personalized stalls!) burros, dairy cows, goats, sheep, ostriches, chickens, and a delightful assortment of dogs of all shapes and sizes. Ranch manager Ernesto, ensures all of the animals are loved and well-cared for, when Jeffrey is otherwise occupied; but it is easy to see that he likes to spend as much time as possible at his ranch. Visiting these ranches and communing with the animals is a must when you come to Playa de La Paz.
